Since 2017, we have harnessed all available resources to change the paradigm of journalism and media practice, deepen democratic participation and promote good governance
Journalism Training and Masterclasses
We have training programs which are free to members of the centre. We have a curriculum for emerging cross disciplinary fields and niche areas around journalism, citizen activism and participatory governance.
Public Data
We have a lab solely dedicated to Public data, we seek to integrate data liberation through investigations into public data.
Grassroots News Project
In a bid to cover marginalized, under-reported and under-served communities, we have decided to turn our searchlight into corruption at the subnational level.
Postdoctoral Fellowship
We have adopted the Research, Innovation and Design template at the core of our work, we always seek to know and understand the root cause of problems, before proffering our solutions.

CIC operates at the nexus of media innovation and civic technology to empower citizens, civil society actors and journalists with the knowledge and tools for them to become effective advocates of good governance and strong democracy. Our outlook is to democratize access to technical knowledge required by our stakeholders, empower the fourth estate of the realm to open news deserts, develop cutting edge civic tech to galvanize citizen engagement and Increase digital inclusion and participation in the digital economy by marginalised groups. We pursue core programs that are splayed across key tracks, including high-impact investigative journalism; innovation & modernization in digital journalism, and growing civic media participation to culminate in a progressive, awakened “giant of Africa” where development is pursued aggressively by an accountable, citizen-focused government.

We need to tinker a lot to find the best solutions. We believe intuitively that the silver bullet to our dysfunctional democratic systems would be simple.
We need an inspired, envisioned crowd to make this journey with. This crowd will develop new crafts, and form new communities of practice that will become “citizen institutions”
Aha! Without which there couldn’t be any hope. New tools, bring new realities, digital tech is the fire re-discovered.
Journalism is the fourth estate of the realm and the calvary! Without which citizens will never be able to demand for accountability and transparency.
